Annie Leibovitz lists West Village compound

21 hrs.

This week in celebrity real estate, celebrated celebrity photographer Annie Leibovitz has listed her West Village compound and singer Nancy Sinatra sold her Santa Monica home.

Annie Leibovitz? picture-perfect compound for sale
The maker of so many of pop culture?s most iconic images from the past 40 years spent almost as much time creating a stellar artist?s compound in the West Village. Now, it seems it?s time to move on ??or at least uptown ??so famed photographer Annie Leibovitz has listed her 10,000-square-foot home at 755 Greenwich St, New York, NY 10014.

The price is a whopping $33 million, however, the townhouse in the heart of the Village is actually three separate addresses that have been combined into a spacious living and work space.?The listing is held by Brown Harris Stevens agents Paula Del Nunzio and Guida De Carvalhosa, who fittingly describe the series of spaces, including a main residence with 4 bedrooms, a separate guest area, a studio and garden patio. The townhouse has 13 fireplaces, wide plank floors and central air.

Leibovitz has decided to list the property several years after she faced bankruptcy, which sent her scrambling to settle with creditors, including Goldman Sachs, and preserve the rights to her photographs, as well as saving her townhouse and stone farmhouse complex in Rhinebeck, NY.

According to the the agents listing her home, Leibovitz is now selling the West Village property to move uptown closer to the school that her three daughters attend.

A year after buying, Nancy Sinatra sells home
The listing notes say it all about this wonderful Santa Monica ranch: ?It?s your ?Something?s Gotta Give? house.?

Well, for owner Nancy Sinatra, who just bought this 4,000-square-foot home on a cul-de-sac one year ago, something must have given. The daughter of Frank Sinatra decided to move on ??and fast. She not only listed this cozy home with double master suites but sold it in a very quick, 10-day settlement deal.

Sinatra?s boots must be made for walking away. The hit-making singer, who is now 72, listed the home for $4.985 million. She bought the place for $5,060,550 million in November 2011.

Listing agent Rory Barish?of Lane Four Real Estate, a division of Keller Williams Beverly Hills, would not comment on the reasons for Sinatra?s change of heart. However, there?s no shortage of reasons why this home made for a great Los Angeles acquisition, even if it went in a New York minute.

?It?s just seven blocks to the ocean on a wonderful street, and the greatest thing is that you?re in the flats but you do not sacrifice the view. You can see the ocean from this house, but you are just blocks to (the Promenade and other Santa Monica landmarks)? Barish said.

Moments of silence around NFL for shooting victims

Two players who wear No. 26 joined hands with the coaches of the St. Louis Rams and Minnesota Vikings in tribute to the victims of the school massacre in Newtown, Conn.

The moment of silence before Sunday's game included coaches Jeff Fisher of St. Louis and Leslie Frazier of Minnesota, along with Rams running back Daryl Richardson and Vikings cornerback Antoine Winfield.

The players were selected because their number represents the number slain at Sandy Hook Elementary School on Friday.

Dozens of children wearing uniform jerseys held hands with players in a circle extending from the 30-yard lines at the Edward Jones Dome, centered on the Rams logo at midfield. Richardson, Winfield and the coaches formed an inner circle.

Flags were at half-staff at M&T Bank Stadium when the Baltimore Ravens hosted the Denver Broncos in one of the eight early games.

With the Maryland National Guard standing on the opposite end of the field from the flag bearers, the scoreboards went black as the public address announcer asked the crowd to observe "silent reflection" in the wake of Friday's "horrific tragedy."

Players from both team stood stoically on the sideline. The moment of silence was followed by the national anthem.

In New Orleans, the Superdome fell silent for nearly 30 seconds before the Saints hosted Tampa Bay. People around the stadium removed their hats, bowed their heads and remained still until the public address announcer introduced the national anthem singer, "American Idol" contestant Skylar Laine.

In Houston, video screens went black as the moment was observed before the Texas hosted the Indianapolis Colts.

In Chicago, Green Bay wide receiver Donald Driver retweeted the names of the victims.

Buffalo Bills CEO Russ Brandon tweeted that a moment of silence was to be held in Toronto later Sunday before the Bills played the Seattle Seahawks at the downtown Rogers Centre.

Pat Barry?s heartfelt plea to ?hug your friends? (VIDEO)

On Friday, Pat Barry and all of the fighters on Saturday's "The Ultimate Fighter 16" finale had one task to accomplish. They had to make weight. Even for a small heavyweight like Barry, it's the only thing on a fighter's mind the day before a fight.

Still, the mass shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary could not be ignored. No matter a fighter's focus, he was still affected by a gunman taking out 27 people, including 20 children. Several of Saturday's fighters mentioned the shooting and UFC commentator Joe Rogan somberly spoke of the tragedy before Saturday's broadcast. Barry's speech after knocking out Shane Del Rosario was particularly memorable. (Skip to the 2:00 mark.)

"If you've got kids, hug 'em like it's the last day. Go hug your parents. Go hug your best friends. And if you have any beef with anyone, even from 10 years ago, because you never know what's going to happen."

Tortoiseshell - Sugar Plum - Medium - Baby - Female - Cat ...

Tortoiseshell - Sugar Plum - Medium - Baby - Female - Cat

Name: SUGAR PLUM

Sex: F

DOB (est): 8.6.12

Breed mix: DLH Tortie / possibly Maine Coon mix

Vet: All of our cats are spayed/neutered, and vaccinated, prior to adoption.

Sugar Plum is simply an amazing looking cat. She's probably the most beautiful, unique Tortoiseshell girl we've ever met. Exquisite. Her soft, thick fur combines soft orange, camel, silver, white and deep chocolate in the most interesting pattern. She has a large ruff and a huge fluffy tail. She reminds us of a little girl wearing her mama's big fur coat.

Sugar Plum and her sister Holly Jolly were orphaned kittens, rescued at a mobile home park where they were very, very frightened. It's taken love and a lot of cuddling to help them trust.

Her foster mom Debby writes: "Sugar Plum lets me pick her up, eats out of my hand and is very happy, healthy and playful. When I approach her, she doesn't run, and in the evening, I let her romp with two of my kittens who are about her age. They were bottle babies and seem to have taught Sugar Plum that "humans are really OK!" She's grown to be very relaxed around them.

"She's been exposed to my dogs and shows not the least bit of fear. These dogs do sleep a lot in the evening, though, and she might think they're just hairy furniture with a funny smell!

"When leaving this foster environment where she is comfortable, it is likely she will lose a little progress, as this often happens when kittens move to a permanent home. Sugar Plum needs a patient home where she has time to warm up and gets lots of human contact. She'll likely to be happy with other friendly cats and with gentle dogs."

Sugar Plum is with her foster mom in Sebastopol.

2013 Ford Fusion: The Green Car of The Year Faces Second Recall

At last week?s Los Angeles Auto Show, the 2013 Ford Fusion was named Green Car of the Year by the Green Car Journal?s 11-member panel of automotive and environmental experts. Each year they select a vehicle that makes good use of current technologies and sets an example in energy efficiency, but the second recall in just two weeks has been issued for the 2013 Ford Fusion making it a vehicle that, in at lest one respect, no one wants to emulate.

Ford already recalled 16,000 Fusions and 73,000 Escape SUVs two weeks ago due to the possibility of engines overheating, leaking fluids and catching fire. They received 13 reports of engine fire issues prior to the recall which only affected 2013 models with a 1.6-liter, four-cylinder engine and didn?t affect Escape or Fusion models with other engines. This newest recall is for an entirely new problem with the 2013 Ford Fusion.

According to Ford, this new recall affects about 19,000 vehicles and is because the low-beam headlamp projector coating may have improperly cured during the manufacturing process. Although not as scary as the possibility of an engine fire, this is still a danger for drivers.

Over time and with use, the improperly applied coating will grow hazy and reduce driver visibility under low-beams. This reduced visibility may increase the risks of a crash, hence the new recall. Owners affected by this recall will start receiving notices in the mail next week to bring in their vehicles for new headlight assemblies at no charge.

As for vehicles in the pipeline, Ford has issued a delivery stop on the 2013 Ford Fusion until all the headlamp assemblies are replaced. Although the headlamp issue is easily resolved, they still aren?t quite sure what?s causing the engine fires and are recommending that owners affected by that recall contact their dealer for loaner cars.

Nicole Wakelin fell in love with cars as a teenager when she got to go for a ride in a Ferrari. It was red and it was fast and that was all that mattered. Game over. She considers things a bit more carefully now, but still has a weakness for fast, beautiful cars. When not drooling over cars, Nicole writes for Wired?s GeekMom.

Loveless Cafe boxes up goodies for deployed troops

The Loveless Cafe is continuing an honorable Christmas tradition this year.

It's packing up boxes of goodies to send to our deployed soldiers in Afghanistan.

The restaurant has sent gifts for six years now.

This year, the Loveless Cafe was able to collect 100 names and addresses through Facebook and Twitter.

The boxes include playing cards, some caramel bacon piggy popcorn and a hand-written greeting card.

"It's amazing because we're able to give a little bit of southern hospitality or southern comfort to our troops overseas," said Heather Barber of Loveless Cafe.

The Loveless Cafe said they often hear back from soldiers through letters, and when they get the chance, they might even stop by to say thanks.

(AP) ? U.S. Attorney Jim Letten, whose successful prosecution of a former Louisiana governor and numerous other public officials won him bipartisan praise for more than a decade, resigned Thursday while the Justice Department investigates alleged misconduct by his top deputies.

Letten's announcement was an abrupt end to his tenure as the nation's longest-serving U.S. attorney. His crusade against crime resulted in convictions of corrupt judges, killer police officers, bribe-taking officials in New Orleans' long-troubled school system and scammers who tried to rip off Hurricane Katrina aid programs. He first won fame as an assistant U.S. attorney leading the successful 2000 racketeering prosecution of former Gov. Edwin Edwards.

Letten didn't address the allegations against his deputies during a news conference Thursday. He previously said that he had no idea what his deputies were doing until the online activity was revealed in court filings.

He said the decision to resign, effective Dec. 11, came after discussions with colleagues, Justice Department officials and his family. "The decision ultimately was mine."

Dana Boente, the first assistant U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia, was appointed in the interim. Attorney General Eric Holder said in a statement that Letten has been a "valued partner, dedicated public servant and a good friend."

Letten didn't take any questions from reporters before he left the room, kissing his wife and hugging tearful colleagues on his way out.

His success had made him one of the city's most popular public figures, but his support among political officials in both parties diminished after revelations about the online activities of two veteran prosecutors in his office.

One, Sal Perricone, resigned in March after acknowledging he criticized judges and politicians and commented on cases in anonymous posts on a local newspaper's website. Letten demoted his top assistant, Jan Mann, last month after she also confessed to posting anonymous comments on the same site.

The Justice Department's Office of Professional Responsibility is investigating the matter.

The authors of the posts were unmasked in court filings by attorneys for New Orleans businessman Fred Heebe, whose landfill operations are the subject of a federal probe.

Letten has said he didn't know about Perricone's and Mann's online posts until after Heebe's court filings.

Heebe had been nominated by then-President George W. Bush for the U.S. Attorney position in November of 2001, but withdrew amid allegations that he had abused an ex-girlfriend and his ex-wife ? allegations that he denied.

Letten was the acting U.S. attorney at the time. He held onto the post through the Bush years and was kept in what is often a political patronage position by Democratic President Barack Obama.

Letten is stepping down at a time when his office is ramping up an investigation of former New Orleans Mayor Ray Nagin's administration. The probe already has resulted in guilty pleas by two businessmen who said they bribed an unidentified city official during Nagin's tenure. It also has threatened to undermine other high-profile cases.

Last month, a federal judge ordered the Justice Department to conduct a new investigation of media leaks related to its probe of deadly police shootings on a New Orleans bridge after Hurricane Katrina. U.S. District Judge Kurt Engelhardt initially called for an investigation in June, but he said a report submitted by Mann is tainted and must be redone.

Engelhardt presided over a trial in which five former officers were convicted of civil rights violations stemming from the Danziger Bridge shootings. Defense attorneys have asked Engelhardt to order a new trial, arguing that media leaks deprived their clients of a fair trial.

Engelhardt urged the Justice Department to appoint a court-approved independent counsel to investigate the online posts and media leaks. On Thursday, Holder announced the appointment of John Horn, First Assistant U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Georgia, to oversee the department's new investigation of the matter.

U.S. Sen. Mary Landrieu, a Louisiana Democrat who has supported Letten even though he was initially appointed by a Republic president, said Letten's record of rooting out public corruption should be commended despite the "troubling" allegations about his deputes. Landrieu said she will forward a short list of candidates to replace Letten to Holder and the White House in the coming weeks.

Video: Scientists working on suit for walking on Mars

>>> well, do you like to be fashion forward? it's particularly important if you're headed to mars. and that may be closer than you think as nbc's special correspondent ben fogel recently found out. ben, good morning.

>> reporter: good morning, willie, from the royal observatory here in greenwich. now for centuries astronomers have been looking towards mars, but now it seems life on the distant planet is possible. nasa announced earlier this week that they hoped for a manned mission by 2030 , so what will it take? well, a very special suit to survive on the red planet . mars has long held a fascination over us. the staff of myth and hollywood movies but recent pictures of mars' landscape give us a better understanding of the red planet .

>> we have the technology to do this. if we made a commitment to put people on mars, we could get them there probably in 10 to 12 years.

>> reporter: and everyone it seems is getting into the race, with chinese, russian and indian astronauts limbering up. in this alpine glacier cave, the austrian space forum is testing a little martian helper.

>> the key to colonizing mars is humans and robots working together.

>> exactly.

>> reporter: it's in caves, scientists think, robots like this may find signs of life on mars one day, shielded from extreme temperature and radiation.

>> like this one, for example can, go in places that are small or do things that are tang a rouse for humans.

>> reporter: forget war mongering invaders and start thinking best buddies .

>> i just warn you you'll have to check my bag because i'm taking this home with me.

>> reporter: back in the spacelab at innsbruck, university, they are conducting experiments for the mars suit that will enable astronauts to walk, talk, eat and work in the extremes of a martian environment. it takes more than 160 procedures, a loss of checks and balances and three hours to fire up the suit. so what are you checking here?

>> we have an online usage here. the oxygen in the suit.

>> if you got this wrong, he would die, wouldn't he?

>> this is actually putting on a full support system that's like having your own ecosystem, your own little earth with you. if one single thing fails inside there, you are busted.

>> reporter: on that note it's my turn to be a space man. don't apply if you're over 6'3", have shoes bigger than side 10, or if you have a fear of tight spaces, and try not to sneeze in the suit.

>> i feel quite isolated already in this. what kind of person does it take to travel so far to mars and live within this sort of spacesuit.

>> real astronauts, they really have to be trained to stay focused, still be a team player and still have some -- we combine the best qualities in humans into a single person inside the suit.

>> okay, gentlemen, this is mission control .

>> can i talk to you. can you hear me?

>> can i hear you loud and clear.

>> oh, that's amazing.

>> while we're on our way to collecting some non-martian material in the university car park the future looms large. the first human who will walk on mars is probably already born. it might not be me, but it could be my son or my daughter. is there life on mars ?

>> a man's allowed to dream, right? well, i can tell you that suit weighed 99 pounds and i only just got out of it, but i think it suited me. willie.

>> it's not everybody that can pull off a spacesuit, i believe you just did it. ben fogle , thanks very much.

>> very slimming, too.
